Isaac Is Here!

I went in Friday morning for my scheduled induction, we started at 8:00. Isaac's delivery was awesome! I was dilated to a two and quickly progressed from there. They gave me an epidural at a five and then broke my water when I was at a seven. After I got to a seven things slowed down and I stopped dilating so quickly. The nurse had me switch from side to side to help move things along. By about 3:00 I was fully dilated and ready to go! The nurse called the doctor, and he was rushing to get there. The worst part of the delivery was trying to keep Isaac in! When the doctor finally got there I finally got the go-ahead to push and ten minutes later he was here! They took him over and gave him his bath and all of that kind of stuff, and they also let me feed him. Then the nurse mentioned that he was laboring to breath a little bit. I noticed that his cry wasn't as loud and strong as Ethan's right after he was born. They figured that he just needed to get a little something out of his lungs and tried to get him to cry and suction out his mouth, but he was still struggling. They said they were going to take him to be monitored in the nursery for awhile. It ended up being 4 days! We didn't get the full scoop until later but he had swallowed some amniotic fluid on the way out and we had to have several chest x-rays and blood tests to make sure that there was no infection and that it didn't turn into pneumonia. They let me stay an extra day at the hospital to make feeding him easier. Driving back and forth after I went home was really draining and it made me so sad for the moms that have their babies in there for weeks and weeks. The positives of this experience were that I got a lot of rest, and Isaac is now on a great schedule thanks to the NICU! I won't list the negatives. We couldn't have done it without my mom here bending to Ethan's every whim. She has done everything for us and we are so grateful. We are so so so so happy to have our baby home. He is completely healthy, the fluid just had to work it's way out. He is adorable. Ethan is adjusting well too, he spends his time alternating between pretending like he is a baby, and helping the baby. It is cute. So our blog is about to be bombarded with pictures of the cutest baby in the world. If my shameless bragging about my children bothers you, then please refrain from reading this blog for the next 18+ years. :)

You just keep the shameless bragging up, because I know I am! I KNOW I have the most beautiful grandchildren in the whole world and I want everyone else to know it too!!! :)

I love the look on Ethan's face looking at Isaac in the hospital--the same look Molly had when she saw Christopher for the first time!
That "life as I know it will never be the same again" look!

Oh, he is a doll! You keep bragging and posting all the pictures you want - that's what our blog has turned into too. I had forgotten what having a newborn in the house feels like - I love it. So happy for you guys and so glad your mama was able to be there to help out. Wish I wasn't so far away so we could come see your cute little one. Give Ethan a squeeze for me - we miss you guys. Love ya!!
