It was so different being pregnant this time! I don't know if it was because there were two crazy boys keeping me busy or maybe I'm just getting old, but I was tired and sore and grumpy by the end! I was also progressing much quicker than I did with my boys! At my 38 week appointment the doctor told me that I was dilated to a 4 and 90 percent effaced. He scheduled me to be induced a week later but said that he didn't think I would make it that far! I had tons and tons of contractions but they just weren't hurting enough that I thought I should go in. At my doctor appointment the doctor told me "not to be a hero" and if I had another uncomfortable and restless night then to head on in. I did try a few things like eating a bunch of pineapple, going for walks, and bouncing a big ball to get things going and after one miserable night we decided to head to Labor and Delivery! We had some friends, The Terrys, watch our kids. When we were going in I wasn't sure if they were going to keep me there or not! But I was dilated to a 5 and my contractions were steady so they monitored me for a bit and decided that I actually was in labor and got to stay! Eric was pretty excited that he didn't have to go into work! Haha. The doctor came and broke my water around 11:00 and things went pretty quick until I got stuck at an 8 for about 2 hours. I had an epidural and was very comfortable though! Finally the nurse shift changed and the new nurse that came in told me to try laying on my right side. Almost immediately I started to feel tons of pain. I called the nurse back in my room and she frantically called the doctor. After about two contractions of pushing our beautiful Avie girl was here at 6:40 p.m. She was sweet and calm even just a few minutes after birth. We are hoping that trend continues! Every one at the hospital commented on her hair and her lips and what a natural beauty she is! She was out tiniest baby at 6 pounds 11 ounces and 18 and 1/2 inches long.
